Use in landscaping projects
A bonsai is a miniature tree shaped through special pruning and training techniques. It is an elegant decorative element for offices, hotel receptions, restaurants, shops and terraces, and a distinctive corporate gift. Depending on the species, there are indoor and outdoor bonsai.
Planting and spacing
Bonsai are grown in special shallow pots with bonsai substrate, which provides good drainage and aeration. Placement depends on the species: indoor species need plenty of light, while outdoor species must be kept outside and protected only from severe frost.
Care and maintenance
Watering is the most important factor: the substrate must not dry out completely, and in summer daily watering may be needed. The shape is maintained by pinching shoots and periodic pruning. Every 2–3 years the bonsai is repotted into fresh substrate.
