Use in landscaping projects
Sago palm (Cycas revoluta) is a very ancient exotic plant with stiff, feathery leaves arranged in a rosette on a thick trunk. It is a striking decorative element for terraces, hotel lobbies, offices, restaurants, pools and winter gardens, usually grown in pots.
Planting and spacing
It only withstands light frosts down to about -8°C, so in Romania it is grown in pots with a very well-drained substrate. In summer it can stay outdoors in sun or partial shade; in winter it is moved to a bright, frost-free space.
Care and maintenance
It grows very slowly, usually producing just one new crown of leaves per year. Water moderately, letting the substrate dry between waterings; overwatering leads to rot. Note: all parts of the plant are toxic, so keep it away from children and pets.
