Use in landscaping projects
Saucer magnolia (Magnolia × soulangeana) is one of the most spectacular spring-flowering plants: in April, before the leaves appear, it is covered with large, cup-shaped white-and-pink flowers. It is an ideal specimen for gardens, building entrances, parks and prestige spaces.
Planting and spacing
It usually reaches 4–8 m in height and width. It prefers sunny or partly shaded sites sheltered from cold winds and rich, slightly acidic to neutral soils. Plant in spring.
Care and maintenance
It needs regular watering in the first years and mulching, as its roots are shallow. Late spring frosts can damage the flowers but not the plant. Keep pruning to a minimum, after flowering.
