Use in landscaping projects
Forsythia is the herald of spring: it flowers among the first shrubs, when gardens are still bare. It is used in informal hedges, park groups, on slopes, in public spaces and residential gardens, often combined with later-flowering shrubs.
Planting and spacing
It reaches 2–3 m. For informal hedges plant 1–2 plants per linear metre, in groups 1–1.5 m apart. It adapts to almost any soil and prefers sun, where it flowers most freely.
Care and maintenance
Prune right after flowering, removing some of the old stems at the base; pruning in autumn or winter removes the flower buds. It is very robust and easy to maintain.
Frequently asked questions
