Use in landscaping projects
Kerria is one of the few flowering shrubs that does well in partial and full shade. It is used in borders, under trees, on the north side of buildings, in residential gardens and parks. Its green, arching stems stay decorative in winter.
Planting and spacing
It reaches 1.5–2 m. Plant 1–2 plants per square metre or 2 per linear metre for informal borders. It adapts to most soils and tolerates sun, partial and full shade.
Care and maintenance
After flowering remove the oldest stems at the base to rejuvenate. It spreads by suckers, so limit it when needed. It is hardy to about -25°C.
