Use in landscaping projects
Shrubby cinquefoil is a 50–100 cm shrub widely used in public green spaces thanks to its long flowering and minimal maintenance. It is planted in borders, beds, on slopes, in car parks and residential gardens, alone or with ornamental grasses and low conifers.
Planting and spacing
Plant 3–4 plants per square metre for ground cover, or 2–3 per linear metre for low borders. It prefers sun, where it flowers most freely, and adapts to most well-drained soils.
Care and maintenance
It is extremely frost-hardy (to about -30°C) and drought-tolerant once established. At the end of winter cut the plants back by a third to keep them compact and free-flowering.
