Use in landscaping projects
Roses are a fixture of parks, squares and prestige gardens: single-variety beds for mass effect, path borders, rose gardens and private gardens. Repeat-flowering varieties bloom in flushes from May to autumn.
Planting and spacing
Bare-root roses are planted in autumn or early spring, container roses almost all season. In beds, 4–6 plants per square metre are usually planted. They need at least 6 hours of sun a day and fertile, well-drained soil.
Care and maintenance
In March cut stems back to 3–5 buds. Water at the base, not on the leaves, and feed in spring and early summer. Remove spent flowers for repeat blooming. Leaf diseases are prevented by good air circulation and resistant varieties.
