Use in landscaping projects
Leyland cypress (× Cuprocyparis leylandii) is the fastest-growing conifer for tall hedges, windbreaks and privacy screens around properties, warehouses, industrial zones and residential developments. In just a few years it can form a tall, dense green wall that shields from wind, dust and view.
Planting and spacing
For hedges, 1.5–2 plants per linear metre are usually planted (50–70 cm apart), depending on plant size. It adapts to various soil types but does not tolerate waterlogging. After planting, tall plants are staked.
Care and maintenance
It grows very fast (60–100 cm per year), so the hedge is trimmed two or three times a year, from spring to late summer. Important: do not cut into old wood without needles, as it will not regrow from there. It is hardy to about -15°C.
